Symphony By The Sea performs a program entitled “Sketches of Spain”
The program:
Juan Crisostomo Arriaga: Overture to “Los Esclavos Felices”
Joaquin Rodrigo: Concierto de Aranjuez
Jerome Mouffe, guitar soloist
Joaquin Turina: La Oracion del Torrero
Manuel de Falla: El Sombrero de Tres Picos
The Concierto de Aranjuez by Rodrigo is perhaps the most played and beloved of all guitar concerti. A version by Miles Davis and Gil Evans made its iconic second movement even more popular. We will perform the work in its original version along with music by Falla, Turina and Arriaga that explores the intensity, lyricism and colors of the Spanish landscape.
Jim is Principal Horn of Symphony By The Sea. The concert takes place on May 3, 2026, 3 PM at Cabot Performing Arts Center, 286 Cabot St, Beverly, MA
